An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Marine Designer to join a well-established engineering organisation supporting major offshore and marine projects.
This is a contract role offering hybrid working, competitive rates, and the opportunity to work within a globally connected project team.
The Role
As a Senior Marine Designer, you will support the Marine Team in delivering high-quality design outputs across complex projects. You'll liaise closely with multi-disciplinary teams, clients, and vendors, while coordinating with project teams across global offices to ensure deliverables are met within agreed timelines and budgets.
This role will involve both hands-on design work and leadership responsibilities, including mentoring junior designers and managing remote team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver marine and structural design work using Aveva Marine
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior designers
- Manage and coordinate a team of designers working remotely
- Break down project tasks to drawing level and estimate required resources
- Develop project-specific job notes, guides, and training materials
- Organise schedules and allocate resources to meet project deadlines
- Liaise with other engineering disciplines, clients, and vendors
- Ensure deliverables are produced consistently and to required standards
Requirements
- Marine and Structural Designer with formal qualification or significant on-the-job training
- Minimum 10 years' relevant experience
- Strong proficiency in Aveva Marine (essential)
- Experience managing and coordinating design teams
- Ability to plan workloads and prioritise effectively
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced project environment
- Comfortable working in a hybrid office-based role
