Key Responsibilities
- Carry out drilling, boring, reaming, tapping, countersinking, facing, and stud welding operations to specification.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Select, inspect, and safely use the appropriate tools and equipment.
- Ensure all work is completed to required quality standards and compliance requirements.
- Adhere to all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures.
- Identify and resolve routine issues, escalating where necessary.
- Maintain tools and equipment to support efficient operations.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in mechanical manufacturing, fabrication, shipbuilding, or heavy engineering environments.
- Competence in:
- Drilling to depth and clear holes
- Flat-bottom drilling
- Countersinking
- Reaming
- Tapping
- Positional boring
- Counterboring and back knifing
- Facing
- Stud welding
- Strong understanding of quality standards, product conformance, and continuous improvement practices.
Qualifications
- Completed and approved apprenticeship in a relevant trade.
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
