Steelworker (Plater/Shipwright)
We are recruiting experienced Steelworkers (Platers/Shipwrights) to join a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation working on large-scale, complex projects in a highly regulated environment.
The Role
You'll be involved in the fabrication, assembly, installation, and manufacture of steel structures and components, working from engineering drawings to deliver high-quality products while maintaining the highest safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate, assemble, and install structural steel components.
- Carry out marking out, plate preparation, burning, drilling, grinding, and fitting activities.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Operate a range of fabrication tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Perform quality checks to ensure work meets required standards.
- Work collaboratively to deliver projects safely, on time, and to specification.
About You
- Time-served Steelworker, Plater, Shipwright, or equivalent engineering trade.
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- Experience in steel fabrication, structural assembly, and heavy engineering.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience with plate forming, burning, alignment, fitting, and structural assembly is desirable.
- Confident working within a safety-critical, quality-driven manufacturing environment.
- Strong team player with excellent attention to detail and commitment to health and safety.
