We are looking for experienced Crane Operators to support major defence and engineering projects within a highly regulated shipyard environment.
The Role
- Safely operate overhead and mobile cranes to lift, transport and position engineering loads
- Carry out lifting operations in line with approved lift plans and procedures
- Complete pre-use inspections and equipment checks
- Support vessel operations, manufacturing and maintenance activities
- Select and use appropriate lifting equipment
- Work safely at height and within confined spaces where trained and authorised
- Complete relevant permits and lifting documentation
- Work closely with slingers, maintenance, welding and production teams
Requirements
- Previous crane operating experience within shipbuilding, engineering, construction or heavy industry
- Valid Crane Operator certification
- Strong understanding of lifting operations and safe systems of work
- Ability to follow lift plans, procedures and technical instructions
- Strong commitment to safety and quality
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Desirable Qualifications
- Crane Supervisor
- Appointed Person
- Slinger/Signaller
- Mobile Crane Operator
- Overhead Crane experience
- Forklift / MEWP licences
- Confined Space / Working at Height
