Electrical Project Manager

Transmission & Distribution

North East

I'm working with an established electrical engineering business that is looking to strengthen its project team with experienced Project Managers from a Transmission & Distribution background.

Substation build experience is essential. You'll need a proven track record of delivering HV/EHV substation projects, with a good understanding of the technical, commercial and construction aspects involved.

The role could suit either a Technical Project Manager or Electrical Project Manager, depending on your background.

The role will involve:

  • Managing HV/EHV substation projects from mobilisation through to completion

  • Taking responsibility for programme, budget, resources and delivery

  • Managing site teams, subcontractors and suppliers

  • Coordinating electrical, civil, engineering and commissioning activities

  • Reviewing designs, drawings, specifications and technical documentation

  • Managing project risks, change and commercial issues

  • Working closely with clients, DNOs, consultants and other stakeholders

  • Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and to specification

  • Supporting procurement and subcontractor management

  • Providing technical support and resolving issues throughout delivery

  • Managing project reporting and progress updates

Essential experience:

  • Strong background in Transmission & Distribution

  • Proven experience delivering substation construction/build projects

  • Experience across HV/EHV electrical infrastructure

  • Strong understanding of substation construction and electrical installation

  • Experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams

  • Strong programme, budget and project management experience

  • Comfortable working with clients and senior stakeholders

  • Understanding of H&S, quality and compliance requirements within power infrastructure

Experience working across 132kV and above would be particularly relevant, as would experience with National Grid, DNOs, ICPs or major electrical contractors.

This would suit someone who has progressed through an electrical/site/project engineering background and is now managing the full delivery of substation projects.

If you have genuine substation build experience and are open to a new opportunity, get in touch for more information.
