US/UK Tax Manager - Trusts & Family Wealth
Job Type: Permanent
Location: London / UK-wide (Hybrid/Remote)
Salary: £Negotiable + Bonus + Benefits
Complex cross-border work, meaningful client relationships and a supported route towards senior leadership. This US/UK Tax Manager role offers the scope to manage a varied portfolio of US-connected clients while developing your expertise in trusts, estates and family wealth.
The Role:
Joining the Trust and Family Wealth team, you will advise US-connected clients with income and assets held in trusts and estates. The work calls for both technical judgement and sensitivity: understanding the tax position is important, but so is explaining it clearly and building confidence with clients.
Alongside responsibility for your own portfolio, you will help manage the department's workload, develop junior colleagues and contribute to the wider team's operational and commercial performance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a comprehensive client portfolio, coordinating compliance and advisory work across US and UK trust and estate tax matters.
- Reviewing technical work, researching complex issues and translating findings into practical advice.
- Building trusted client relationships and keeping work, deadlines and expectations on track.
- Line-managing junior colleagues, delivering appraisals and developing their technical and client-handling skills.
- Supporting departmental work planning, monitoring delivery against performance targets and identifying more effective ways of working.
- Working with senior colleagues to deliver the team's objectives and contribute to the wider business.
The Person:
You will bring a solid foundation in US/UK trust and estate tax concepts, excellent client-handling skills and the judgement to manage technically complex, often sensitive matters.
You are likely to be an established manager or an experienced tax professional close to promotion, ready to take greater ownership of client work and people development.
Dual US/UK qualifications, drawing on credentials such as EA, ATT, CTA or STEP, are normally essential. Exceptional candidates qualified in either the US or the UK may also be considered.
Clearly defined career pathways are supported by year-round technical training and CPD support, tailored on-the-job learning, senior management mentoring and personal coaching. For those with the ambition, development can be tailored towards Director or Partner progression.
