US/UK Tax Consultant - Shropshire (Hybrid/Remote)
Job Type: Permanent
Location: Shropshire (Hybrid/Remote)
Salary: £Negotiable + Bonus + Benefits
Working closely with Tax Managers and experienced colleagues, you'll support UK and US individual tax returns, compliance activities and tax research. It's a role for someone who enjoys detailed work, is comfortable asking questions and wants to take on greater responsibility as their technical knowledge grows. Offering exposure to a varied client portfolio, professional development and study support, and clear opportunities to progress within the tax team. You'll help turn client information into accurate, timely tax submissions, building your understanding of the compliance process from initial information requests through to return preparation.
The Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Assisting with the preparation of UK and US individual tax returns.
- Preparing annual tax return information requests to support tax preparation and planning and following up on missing client information and documentation.
- Supporting compliance deadlines through accurate work, organised records and effective prioritisation.
- Researching straightforward tax queries using reliable sources, including HMRC, the IRS and relevant financial and tax resources.
- Keeping your knowledge of relevant legislation and compliance requirements up to date.
- Supporting client calls and meetings, taking comprehensive notes and gathering the information needed to progress work.
- Identifying practical improvements to tax processes and contributing to best practice.
- Maintaining professional standards across confidentiality, GDPR, anti-money laundering, anti-bribery, health and safety, and equality and diversity.
The Person:
You'll have previous experience in a tax-related role, which may include a relevant internship, and a basic understanding of UK and/or US tax regulations. You should be working towards AAT or ATT, or willing to pursue a relevant tax qualification.
Just as importantly, you'll bring a genuine interest in taxation, an analytical approach and close attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills will help you work effectively with clients and colleagues, while good time management will enable you to balance competing priorities.
You'll be comfortable learning from others, contributing to a collaborative team and taking responsibility for the quality and timeliness of your work. Discretion and professionalism are essential when handling sensitive client information.
